SEED GRANT COMPETITION
We are pleased to introduce the two projects that were selected for a seed grant through the Columbia County Placemaking Initiative!
Welcome to the Berwick Arts District
Berwick Arts Association will work with four local artists to visually designate the new Arts District in downtown Berwick. Artists will be selected through an open competition. The Berwick Arts District, which was recently funded through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, is brightening the area around the intersection of Routes 93 and 11 in Berwick with original public art, including murals, sculptures, mosaics, and performance, created by local artists. The district will draw visitors to see unique works of art while also building community pride.
Berwick Theater and Center for Community Arts
StoryCorps
Berwick Theater and Center for Community Arts will provide an opportunity for Columbia County residents to share their stories about life in Columbia County through a new program modeled after StoryCorps on NPR. Residents’ diverse stories will be documented both at the theater and in the community. These stories will be shared on a dedicated website through multiple media to help people get to know each other, building connection and community.
Both projects will receive a seed grant of $7,500 through the Columbia County Placemaking Initiative and will be highlighted at an event this summer.
